Parablax ossa sp.n. is described from both sexes collected on Mt Ossa, Tasmania. The newly discovered male of Parablax rumaiy Calder is described and the aedeagus figured. Some generic characters (frontal region of head, anterior margin of scutellum and hind wing sclerotisations) of Parablax Schwarz are reappraised. The Pityobiinae, believed by Dolin to comprise Pityobius LeConte, Tibionema Guérin‐Méneville, Metablax Candèze and Parablax Schwarz, is reassessed in the light of female genitalic characters.
