An unusual observation of Rhopalosiphum rufiabdominalis (Sasaki) causing damage to a banana plant in a glasshouse is reported. The association of 3 other Rhopalosiphum spp. with damage to bananas is noted, including a name correction for an aphid reported by Magee (1940) as a vector of banana mosaic virus.
