Blastopsylla gen. n. contains 9 new species: B. moorei (type‐species), B. brunnea and B. bivittata from eastern Australia; B. adnatariae, B. multisetulae and B. octosetulae from South Australia; B. occidentalis and B. nigricollaris from Western Australia; and B. degluptae from Papua New Guinea. These insects feed on the growing tips of Eucalyptus , and some species also on related myrtaceous hosts. B. occidentals has become established in New Zealand and California.
