Two strains of the tingid, Leptobyrsa decora Drake, Peruvian and Colombian, are known. The life cycle and general behaviour of the Peruvian strain have already been described. The oviposition behaviour of the 2 strains appears to differ only in the number of eggs per batch laid by each female. Examination of the aggregation state, oviposition behaviour and brood care of these strains show that this is the result of different degrees of colonial oviposition and rates of dispersal of adults from the egg batches.
