Abstract The parasitic amoeba, Malameba locustae , was found parasitising the grasshopper, Pardillana limbata (Stål), in the arid western district of New South Wales and the cricket, Pteronemobius sp., in the temperate tablelands of northern New South Wales. These are the first records of M. locustae in field populations of Orthoptera in Australia.
