Austroxestus monteithi sp. n., described from Arnhem Land, Northern Territory, is regarded as the sister group of A. carnarvoni Woodward from southeast Queensland and eastern New South Wales. The relationships of the 5 species of Austroxestus are discussed and an earlier key to the species is revised and extended.
