Eight types of trap were tested for Cryptophlebia ombrodelta , the macadamia nut borer. Catch in a Robinson mercury vapour light trap was related to crop damage. The commercial pheromone lure Orfamone II, containing cis ‐8‐dodecenyl acetate and dodecyl alcohol, was found suitable for extensive extra‐orchard surveys of moth breeding sites. Suction traps used in one orchard caught sufficient adults to show diurnal flight behaviour. Bait, emergence, flight, malaise and sticky traps were ineffective.
