The previously unrecorded life history of Hypochrysops theon medocus (Fruhstorfer) from Iron Range, Claudie River district, north Queensland is described and figured. The larval food plant is the fern Drynaria quercifolia (L.) J. Smith (Filicales: Polypodiaceae).
