Tettigoniid grasshoppers of the genus Tympanophora inhabit the open heaths of temperate coastal Australia. The 7 known species, pellucida White, uvarovi Zeuner, insolita sp. n., splendida sp. n., similis sp. n., picta sp. n. and diminuta sp. n., are described and illustrated, and a key presented for their separation. The subfamily Tympanophorinae is redefined.
