The distinctive Paraspeleognathopsis exul sp. n. is the first ereynetid mite parasite to be described from an Australian marsupial ( Antechinus stuartii Macleay, Dasyuridae). New synonymy: Paraspeleognathopsis Fain, 1958 = Speleorodens Fain, 1962 = Speleomys Fain, 1971.
