The pompilid tribe Ctenoceratini (Pompilidae, Pepsinae) is reported from Australia for the first time. The genus Maurillus Smith is properly included in this tribe, and the type species, australis Smith, is here redescribed. Also included are three new genera: Apoclavelia, based on A. aganippeae sp. n. (Western Australia); Austroclavelia, based on A. venator sp. n. (South Australia); and Cteniziphontes , with Calopompilus protervus Turner as type‐species and also including C. ornatus sp. n. (both Western Australia). Members of the last three genera have been reared from the nests of trap‐door spiders.
