A new species of Austrogoniodes Harrison (Philopteridae), A. metoecus , is described based on specimens taken from Biziura lobata (Shaw), a member of the Anseriformes. Hitherto, this genus has been found only on penguins (Sphenisciformes). A short discussion on spermatophores in the Ischnocera and the Amblycera is included.
