The rhinonyssine genus Mesonyssoides is recorded from Australia. Four new species are described from cockatoos, parrots and lorikeets (Psittacidae) as follows— M. kakatuae sp. n. from Kakatoe roseicapilla, M. aprosmicti sp. n. from Aprosmictus erythropterus, M. platycerci sp. n. from Platycercus adscitus, and M. trichoglossi sp. n. from Trichoglossus chlorolepidotus and T. moluccanus. A key to the seven species is given. New synonymy: Mesonyssoides Strandtmann and Clifford, 1962 (October) equals Mesonyssoides Fain and Nadchatram, 1962 (July).
