Scanning electron microscopy was applied on the human gastric mucosa obtained from 30 cases including fetuses in order to examine its normal and pathological conditions (atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, regenerated epithelium around an ulcer, gastric polyp, and differentiated and undifferentiated carcinoma). Tissue preparation for scanning electron microscopy of the gastric mucosa was also studied.
