An autopsy case of radiation myelopathy Is described in a 24‐year‐old woman, who had developed signs of progressive myelitis following repeated courses of radiation therapy for a lymphoepithelioma of the nasopharynx with metastases to the cervical lymph nodes. Histopathologic studies disclosed an extensive area of necrosis in sections of the upper cervical spinal cord coextensive with an area of irradiation. Vascular changes were prominent and a glial reaction was sparse. It is suggested that a vasculo‐circulatory factor plays an important role in the production of the parenchymal lesion.
