Murine viral leukemias are generally regarded as a neoplasm caused by virus infection. Since the role played by the causative viruses in maintenance of neoplastic character and in growth of leukemia cells may be one of the important problems in tumor pathology, the present author has investigated this problem using an in vitro cultured tumor cell line of Friend disease origin. The present paper is concerned with the author's opinion concerning this problem.
