Pelvic lymph nodes removed by operation of 1284 cases of various gynecological carcinomas as well as 166 cases of rectum carcinoma of females were examined. Glandular inclusions were found in 30 cases, i.e. 27 cases of carcinoma of the uterine cervix, a case of ovarian carcinoma, a case of malignant melanoma of the vagina and a case of rectum carcinoma. On the basis of their morphology, localization in the lymph nodes and mode of distribution in the pelvis, it was concluded that these glandular inclusions were endometriosis, namely endometrial glands transported from the uterine body through lymphatic channels. The incidence was 2.296 in the presence of carcinoma of the uterine cervix. The incidence seemed to be far lower in Japan than in western countries.
