Perforations are seldom found in the stomach of newborns in the first month after birth. No more than 15 cases having been reported in foreign countries and only one in Japan since S iebold's (1) first report in 1825. Recently, we had the opportunity to dissect a pair of binovular twins that had died in succession showing conspicuous distension of the abdomen, and have found perforations in the gastric walls of both of them. Upon histo‐pathological examination of the cases, we have succeeded in obtaining some observations that might contribute in elucidating the cause and mechanism that induces such perforations.
