SUMMARY An autopsy case of pneumococcal subacute infection of a 19 month old young girl is presented. This case was characterized by diffuse glomerulonephritis as well as diffuse interstitial pneumonitis. The problem as to whether nephritis and pneumonitis are part of systemic capillary or angiomesenchymal tissue reactions due to bacterial infection has been discussed. Not only the causal and formal genesis of the characteristic organ inflammations but also the similarity of the tissue reactions in both organs have been considered.
