SUMMARY The cyanamide double medication therapy is not only an antialcoholic‐drug therapy but a behavior therapy (conditioned aversion therapy) and dynamic family therapy in a specific therapeutic technique. It seems that these therapeutic mechanisms reinforce other effects. “The Cyanamide Double Medication Technique” which contains these plural therapeutic mechanisms can be carried out without difficulty when the family's cooperation is obtained. It is very significant that these patients can be treated in an outpatient clinic. The alcoholics who refuse to take the drugs can be treated without their knowledge. We believe this technique is also useful in preventing the progress of alcoholism.
