S ummary Five cases of proximal occlusion and stenosis of the anterior cerebral artery being examined by the bilateral angiographic studies are reported. One case is non‐paralytic and four cases are paralytic. In the paralytic group three fourth of the cases involved upper‐extremities. The cases with a rather long history and remarkable dilatation of lateral ventricle show clinically psychiatric symptoms, such as dementia and confusion, but the case with a rather short history shows no ventricle dilatation. The bilateral carotid angiograms with each contralateral carotid compression are needed for exact diagnosis and also differentiation of the occlusion and the stenosis of the proximal portion of anterior cerebral artery. Proximal occlusion and stenosis of the anterior cerebral artery were discussed with five cases and the references.
