Summary Experiences with the continuous ventricular drainage have been described. The procedure alleviates the post‐ventriculographic reactions considerably. However. the sudden and rapid decrease in the intracranial pressure has revealed itself to be as dangerous as the increase. The excessive lowering of the intraventricular pressure may be prevented by elevating the nozzle of the tube 10–15 cm above the level of the head. The intubation should te restricted to a neccessary and sufficient length of time in order to avoid the infection. Five days are usually adequate. Besides the application following the iodized oil ventriculography, the continuous ventricular drainage may be performed whenever the temporary lowering of the intracranial tension is desired.
