Impaired neutrophil kinesis in a patient with the Shwachman‐Diamond syndrome. Recurrent infections contribute significantly to morbidity and mortality in the Shwachman‐Diamond syndrome. There is no correlation between infectious episodes and degree of duration of neutropenia. The finding of a chemotactic disorder in a patient with this syndrome may explain, in part, the susceptibility of these patients to infection.
