Ten neonates are presented from whom the Group B beta‐haemolytic streptococcus was isolated. These cases illustrate the two categories of early and late‐onset disease caused by this organism. Our experience suggests a broader spectrum of early‐onset disease than previously reported and the outcome may be improved if early diagnosis and active therapy are possible. Vaginal interference antepartum may be an important predisposing factor.
