SYNOPSIS The pregnancy and delivery histories of two groups of single mothers confined in a Melbourne public maternity hospital in 1968 were compared with those of a control group of married women. No significant incidence of factors liable to influence adversely the well‐being of the infants born to the single mothers was found.
