SYNOPSIS 6 children with hyperphenylalaninaemia were given 10 mgm of folic acid per day in addition to their normal unrestricted diet. Plasma phenylalanine levels taken on the 7th day of folic acid therapy showed no reduction compared with those drawn immediately before therapy. Thus an absolute or relative deficiency of folic acid does not appear to be responsible for hyperphenylalaninaemia.
