Experience with supra‐pubic aspiration of urine in two hundred and thirty infants and children suggests that this is a safe and reliable technique. Bacteriological examination of urine obtained in this manner, contrasted with concurrent specimens obtained by more orthodox techniques, indicates that the latter may give false evidence of infection in over 60% of specimens.
