SYNOPSIS Investigations of sera from asthmatic patients have been undertaken in an attempt to discover basic differences from normal sera. Asthmatic sera are predominantly histaminopexy negative, that is, they do not combine with histamine in vitro. The sera of normal children show the opposite effect. The protein fraction responsible for binding histamine, plasmapexin, has been shown to be associated with gamma globulin.
