SYNOPSIS A consecutive series of 500 operations for undescended testes has been performed as a prospective study to determine the incidence of the various types, the frequency of associated inguinal hernia, and the short‐term results of treatment. Some aspects of operative technique, including indications for the implantation of prosthetic testes, are also discussed.
