SYNOPSIS Infarcts were found at autopsy on two newborn infants with Heinz body haemolysis. Infarction involved large amounts of the brain, spleen and kidney of the first infant. In the second case, the entire collecting system of renal tubules was obstructed by haemoglobin casts, and an area of bone marrow at the lower end of the femur was infarcted. Some possible implications of these observations have been mentioned.
