SYNOPSIS Many girls above the mean in stature become concerned about this when they are pubescent. A selected group of these girls has been treated successfully with stilboestrol to accelerate their skeletal maturation and thus reduce their adult stature. The selection of girls for treatment, and the sources of inaccuracy in estimating the effectiveness of treatment in individual girls are discussed.
