present, high-risk Caucasian males who at entry endoscopy havemacroscopic markers or HGD are obvious candidates. The use ofow cytometry and similar biomarkers may prove a powerful toolto stratify individuals at risk in the future. Targeting individuals athigh risk in this way will allow appropriate allocation of endo-scopic resources and efcient surveillance strategies. High-riskpatients would then be entered into relatively intensive surveil-lance programs while the frequency of endoscopy for low-riskpatients would be curtailed.
