From the Editors‐in‐Chief This Introduction prefaces three minireviews that are being published under the aegis of our ‘Frontiers in Research’ series. The authors of these reviews recently presented their work at a symposium entitled ‘Inflammation and Innervation of the Intestine’ at the Australian Neuroscience Society meeting in Canberra, 2009. The symposium was supported by the Australian Neuroscience Society, Australasian Neurogastroenterology and Motility Association and this Journal via the present series of minireviews. Roger Evans and Ding‐Feng Su
