A descriptive survey of 60 Queensland paediatric occupational therapists was conducted to ascertain: (i) which standardized assessments are used by paediatric occupational therapists; (ii) the frequency of use of these assessments; and (iii) those assessments which new graduate therapists should be proficient in administering. Thirteen assessments were identified as being most frequently available in paediatric occupational therapy departments. Seven of those most available in paediatric practice were used frequently by 43% or more of respondents. These findings are similar to those of Canadian and American studies, in terms of assessments frequently used in paediatrics. These are the Motor Free Perception Test, the Bruininks Oseretsky Test of Motor Proficiency, the Visual Motor Integration Test, Ayres' Clinical Observations, the Non‐Motor Test of Visual Perception, and the Revised Gesell Developmental Schedules. Ten assessments were identified as ones that new graduates should be proficient in administering. This survey highlights some of the assessments students should be taught prior to entering paediatric practice in Queensland.
