A work experience programme was designed and implemented to cater for the individual needs of eight physically disabled adolescents. This programme was based on the format of the trial work experience programme for physically disabled adolescents established by Samer and Samuelson in an unpublished report in 1982. Subjective and objective results were used to establish the effect of work experience on changes in the physically disabled adolescent's occupational choice, basic work habits and the employer's attitudes towards disabled people. The subjective results indicated that the work experience programme enabled the physically disabled adolescents to make more realistic occupational choices and develop basic work skills. The objective results demonstrated that employers who viewed a film about the employability of disabled people preceding involvement in the programme displayed a significantly positive change in their attitude towards them.
