Summary Plants provide man with many necessary raw materials. As well, horticulture is now being used in the U.S.A. as a tool to help tackle human sociological, psychological, and medical problems. This is discussed under the headings Community Gardening, Horticultural Therapy and its Various Applications, and Horticulture and Psychiatry. Rationales for these activities are described.
