A preliminary analysis of a survey answered by 317 health practitioners with interests in heath in rural and remote Australia is described. The most important unresolved issues in rural health were service delivery problems, difficulties experienced with attracting and retaining staff, continuing education, Aboriginal health and shortage of finance.
