S ummary A case of systemic cryptococcal infection which presented with cutaneous lesions including facial papules and vesicles was initially diagnosed as varicella. The diverse cutaneous manifestations of cryptococcosis are discussed and the need for precise microbiological diagnosis of skin lesions in immunosuppressed patients is highlighted.
