SUMMARY Four children have been seen with a white line across the nose due to leucoderma in a transverse nasal crease, both of which are due to the habit of pushing up the tip of the nose with the palm or fingers. The parents are usually worried about the cosmetic defect but often have not realised the relation between the habit and the white line, or had not registered that the child had the habit, so that recognition and reassurance depend on appreciation of the cause, which may not be suggested by the history.
