S ummary The epidemiology of human cryptococcosis is obscure and although it is presently believed that infection usually occurs by inhalation of the organisms, direct primary infection of the skin has been proven to occur and this may be more than a rare occurrence. The case here reported is of interest as apparently due to dermal inoculation from an arthropod sting and also because the lesion remained localized for a long period with no evidence of dissemination. The lesion responded lo surgical excision and antifungal agents were not used.
