S ummary Two new and safe treatments are described for various nail disorders. One treatment is a trace metal mixture containing magnesium sulphate and zinc sulphate and the other is the immersion of fingernails into hot paraffin wax. These treatments have been found satisfactory by some of the patients treated in a small series. Various nail infections and constitutional nail disorders responded in varying degrees to the two new treatments. The plasma magnesium level was below normal in six out of nine patients suffering from soft, flaky, short nails, P < 0.1%. These observations are thought to be reported for the first time in medical literature.
