S ummary A simple atmospheric model is used to calculate the dose of biologically effective ultraviolet solar radiation reaching the earth's surface. The results are presented as seasonal maps of the radiation distribution over Australia. The effects of cloud cover, surface reflectance, altitude and atmospheric aerosols are discussed.
