S ummary Patients with dermatitis herpetiformis, chronic prurigo of adults and bullous pemphigoid reported in this study have responded more effectively to their specific drug therapy if trace metal supplement were provided. A lesser dosage requirement or even final elimination of drugs like dapsone or corticosteroids, resulted. Most frequently, a zinc and magnesium mixture was prescribed, although zinc only or magnesium only mixture was given in some patients. The plasma zinc and plasma magnesium levels in these patients were frequently below normal or in the low normal range.
