S ummary Many components are necessary to build a rubber mix. The chemicals from two groups (accelerators and anti‐agers) have been found to be the principal offenders when contact with a rubber product has been shown to cause dermatitis. These chemicals arc the various organic amines and phenol derivatives. An outline of the method of production of rubber goods is given. During the vulcanization process, rubber chemicals undergo changes so that the product of such a chemical reaction may in itself be responsible for causing dermatitis.
