SUMMARY A double blind trial has compared alcoholic solutions of 0.05% vitamin A acid and 4% salicylic acid in their effects on acne, over a three month period. No difference was found between the two substances, in improvement of acne or in side effects. Further use of this compound is indicated mainly for patients with dark or tough skins, and with slightly or non‐inflamed acne.
