SUMMARY Blum's experiments with albino mice demonstrate a wide variation in the resistance of individual subjects to the carcinogenic effect of ultraviolet light. From clinical experience humans are thought to show the same wide variation in resistance and this paper is a discussion of some of the possible reasons for this variation.
