SUMMARY A series of patients with perioral dermatitis has been studied. All were treated in Sydney, Australia, in the last three years. In general the patients seen have conformed to the pattern described in other parts of the world. The clinical features are sufficiently uniform to suggest that the disorder is a specific entity, but some examples do simulate other better known disorders. These clinical features are described along with the natural history, response to treatment and prognosis. The aetiology is unknown. Various factors which have been incriminated are discussed.
