S ummary Becker's Melanosis and Hypertrichosis is a. condition occurring predominantly in young males between 10 and 15 years of age and is characterized by a distinctive brown pigmentation on the shoulders and thoracic area, often associated with overgrowth of hair. The area involved is unilateral and often extensive. After an initial period of two or three years during which the lesions increase in size and hairiness, the condition becomes stationary although there is evidence that the pigment slowly disappears in a few eases. Seven patients were observed with the condition during a two year period in Melbourne and their clinical and histological findings are presented together with a review of the literature.
