Examination of a cowside milk progesterone kit Milk samples with high (7.1–15.0 ng/ml), intermediate (3.1–6.1 ng/ml) or low (< 1.5 ng/ml) progesterone content were analyzed for progesterone by the commercially available cowside test “Bovi‐test” (Santel/Bad Segeberg). It was found that high levels of progesterone are positively recognizable. The reliability of the test at intermediate and low levels of progesterone, however, is unsatisfactory.
