Summary. Perforative eye injuries in two patients were complicated by fulminant endophthalmitis. In both patients the cornea was free of micro‐organisms. Vitrectomy of the posterior pars plana was performed and the contents of the vitreous body were examined mycologically and bacteriologically. Fusarium monilforme var. subglutin‐ans and Pseudomonas species were isolated from both patients. Fungal and bacterial organisms penetrated the vitreous body via metal foreign bodies.
